Charlotte was Ronald's first wife and the mistress of the Townsend family.
Therefore, he had to give her face.
Sean raised his glass and said with a smile, "Mrs. Townsend, my thanks to your
husband and the Townsend family's support for Dorodo's city defense army over
the years.
"You're too kind," Charlotte said excitedly, raising her glass to her mouth and
finishing it in one gulp.
"I'm not being kind. I'm telling you the truth. Dorodo city defense soldiers are
several notches better off because of your husband's support. The quilts, clothes,
and other living supplies are a great help to the city defense army.” Charlotte
smiled ear to ear, and she looked at Sean with intense satisfaction.
Ronald had invited the commanders-in-chief of the city defense army to their
home for dinner before, but the previous commanders-in-chief had always looked
like they were above them and spoke arrogantly.
Compared with the previous commanders-in-chief, Sean was undoubtedly
friendlier and less unsympathetic.
"By the way, why didn't I see Ronald? Where did he go?" Sean asked.
Charlotte's expression instantly stiffened at Sean's words.
Mila quickly explained, "Well, Mr. Lennon... A representative from Raphael City
has just arrived to talk business with my husband. They're on the second floor
right now."
"Oh, I see..." Sean nodded.
Zander standing nearby reminded promptly, "The strong hold giant crossbow that
Mr. Townsend said is developed and produced by Raphael City."
Sean's eyes narrowed slightly at Zander's reminder.
Ronald had paid a deposit to Raphael City to buy stronghold giant crossbows
and sell them to Dorodo's city defense army. However, due to Sean's refusal,
there was no way Ronald would be buying those stronghold giant crossbows,
and he wanted the deposit returned.
Someone from Raphael City had come to Dorodo and Ronald's house. Then the
thing they were going to talk about was most likely the stronghold giant
crossbow.
Just then, there was suddenly a piercing sound of something breaking on the
second floor.
Charlotte and Mila's expressions changed, and the others were not looking so
good either.
Sean stood up and said, "Stay right here. I'll go upstairs and check.”
"But..."
Charlotte seemed to have something to say, but Sean cut her off before she
could finish.
"Don't worry. I'm helping your husband."
With that said, Sean and Zander both went upstairs.
The second floor.
Ronald stood in front of the sofa in the luxurious drawing room with an awkward
expression.
In front of him were two middle-aged men in military uniforms.
One could tell at a glance that they were not from Dragon Kingdom. With purple
eyes and round noses, people could tell they were foreigners from every angle.
These two were visibly threatening Ronald.
"We had a deal, and now you want to back out? Do you have any idea how much
trouble that gives us?"
"Mr. Townsend, how disrespectful of you! Are all Dragon Kingdom people so
unreliable?"
Ronald defiantly explained, "It's not that I'm unreliable. We didn't sign a contract
for the stronghold giant crossbows in the first place. We haven't even closed the
deal yet. Changing my mind now isn't considered a breach of contract."
