Cedric was now lying unconscious in the bed. His hair was gray, and his face
was wrinkled. His complexion showed that he was in poor health.
In particular, his cheeks and lips were pale. His deep-set eye sockets made him
appear haggard and thin, which was a feature of long-term illness.
Fortunately, Cedric's breathing was weak but steady, indicating his life was not in
immediate danger.
Clinton picked up the medical kit on the table and stepped forward to begin
Cedric's treatment. He opened the medical kit with a thud, and various small
tools and medicine neatly placed in the medical kit were all displayed in front of
everyone.
The left half of the kit was full of traditional medicine and special needle
treatment, which belonged to the traditional medicine system. On the right side of
the kit were scalpels, tweezers, sewing needles, other tools, and many modern
medicine, which belonged to the modern medicine system.
Clinton knew both traditional medicine and modern medicine, and he could work
in any hospital in Dragon Kingdom after studying abroad.
Sean said nothing, watching Clinton treat his grandfather, Cedric.
Sherman came over and said in a hushed voice, "I'm sorry, Mr. Lennon. My
eldest brother's temper has always been like that. Don't take it personally. He's
not a bad person, but he's too competitive to allow others to be better than him..."
"I understand,” Sean said with a nod.
Sherman then told Sean about his grandfather Cedric's illness.
"My grandfather, Cedric Yale, suddenly became bedridden four years ago. We've
taken him to many major hospitals across the country, but they couldn't find the
cause of his illness..."
"Many famous doctors have treated him, but his condition has worsened day by
day instead of improving. In the past year or so, my grandpa would slip into a
coma from time to time. We're worried that he will suddenly die one day..."
"My grandfather's symptoms are strange. His body temperature has dropped a
lot since falling ill, especially his limbs. They're so cold that he hardly looks alive.
When my grandfather was awake, he told us he felt like some strange insects
were crawling inside of him... It might be an illusion, or it may be a
somatosensory illusion caused by the illness."
Listening to Sherman's explanation, Sean got lost in thought.
Dr. Humphrey's 30 medical books listed thousands of diseases. One of them
seemed to match the symptoms Sherman described.
The disease was called Cold Syndrome.
People with Cold Syndrome had a lower body temperature than regular people,
especially in the limbs which were far from the heart. The temperature might be
two to four degrees Celsius lower than regular people. Due to the drop in body
temperature, the patient's endocrine system would go haywire, which would lead
to many other complications.
The most common was how the patient's physical fitness would worsen day by
day and eventually fall into a coma because of the decline in body temperature.
As the frequency of falling unconscious gradually increased, the patient would
quietly die in a coma at the terminal stage.
Thirteen Miracle Needles was needed to treat Cold Syndrome.
They could cure Cold Syndrome by using Thirteen Miracle Needles to stimulate
the acupoints and induce the cold poison.
Clinton was treating Cedric with special needle treatment.
Was he going to use Thirteen Miracle Needles?
Did he know how?
The Yale family had also gotten copies of Dr. Humphrey's 30 medical books, but
those were only theoretical knowledge. It was not easy to turn that knowledge
into a medical skill. Even Sean, who had a good foundation, took a lot of practice
to master it.
