The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 1651
Bertha scoffed, “So who’s really the one making a scene? Is it me and my daughter or is it your eldest, Sophia? It was Sophia
who started crying first! You doted on her every tear, but when my little Lea cried, you found it embarrassing and reprimanded
her loudly in public! If we’re talking about making a scene, Sophia really took the cake! Do I even need to mention all the things
she’s done? For someone who’s supposed to love both his daughters equally, you sure do have a blatant bias!”
Thaddeus was taken aback, “Bias? How am I biased? Don’t I love Lea too? You heard how loud she was crying, it was disturbing
the entire restaurant!”
Bertha glared at him. “Why was she crying so loud? Because she felt wronged! You think Lea is too young to understand, but
kids are smart. They see who gets more love! You’ve always favored Sophia. I didn’t even mind when you were just a little
biased. Even when it came to inheriting your assets, I didn’t care! When I married you, it wasn’t for your money, and my daughter
doesn’t need your wealth either! But we care about your attitude! You decided to let Sophia inherit everything, only asking my
opinion as a formality, without giving Lea any say. Lea’s not stupid. She knows in your heart that Sophi
Sophia is the important don’t care about the money, but we wished for a bit more affection from you. However, it seems like
you’re
so biased you can’t even realize it! Do you think if I don’t make a fuss, Lea will always be a child in your eyes, whose feelings
you don’t need to consider?”
Left speechless by Bertha’s accusations, Thaddeus remained silent for a while before finally saying, “You said you didn’t care
about the assets, and that’s why I decided to give everything to Sophia. Don’t worry, I’ll set aside enough for our retirement and
Lea’s college tuition. Then we can live that quiet, countryside life you’ve always dreamed of; isn’t that what you wanted?”
Bertha laughed bitterly, “Thaddeus, how dare you say you are not biased?”
Thaddeus didn’t want to argue with Bertha in public. He waved his hand dismissively and said, “Enough! Let’s not discuss this
here. We can talk at home!”
Bertha snorted, “I won’t be going home with you! This life isn’t what I want anymore! Thaddeus, I want a divorce!”
Thaddeus stared at her, disbelief widened his eyes. “What? Divorce?”

Bertha confirmed with a calm and clear voice, “Yes! Divorce! No more sweet words from you can deceive me. I can’t stand my
daughter being overlooked in this family anymore! You can. live your life with Sophia. It would be just the two of you!”
Thaddeus slapped the table in annoyance and yelled, “Bertha, have you had enough? Just because I’m usually patient with you
doesn’t mean I can tolerate this excessive behavior Divorce? With what will you divorce me? If you leave me, you’ll have
nothing! Think about it, you’re not young anymore. You have no job. Who else would want you? Who would treat you as well as I
do? Wake up!”
Bertha smirked sarcastically, “So I’ve always been that worthless in your eyes!”
Thaddeus clenched his jaw. “Enough! Sit down and eat. And I’ll pretend I didn’t hear anything!”
But Bertha wasn’t just throwing a tantrum. She was genuinely tired of Thaddeus always indulging Sophia.
Thinking about the young couple Sophia had torn apart, and Thaddeus’s contrasting treatment of his two daughters, she’d had
enough of this man!
She was serious about the divorce. She didn’t want to be complicit in his favoritism anymore!
