The Kiss that Sparked it All

Chapter 1846
Ellinor turned to Bertha. “Bertha, it’s beyond a disciplinary issue now. Your stepdaughter just tried to splash me with a bottle of
sulfuric acid. Thankfully, she missed me, but my husband was splashed a bit when he tried to protect me. Now, she’s been taken
away by the police.”
What?
Sulfuric acid?!
Bertha, Lea, and Marlinie were all shocked.
“How dare she do such a thing!” Bertha could hardly believe it. She knew Sophia could be a little extreme, but she never
expected this.
Once Lea got over her shock, she was filled with disgust. “Why wouldn’t she?! Dad has spoiled her since she was a child and
has always cleaned up her messes, no matter what they were. She’s become too bold!”
Marlinie was more concerned about her daughter and son-in-law. “Ellinor, are you sure you’re not hurt?”
Ellinor moved to the spot next to her mother and nodded. “I’m fine, Mom. Don’t worry.”
Marlinie then looked towards Theo. “Theo, where are you hurt? Come here, let me see!”
Theo moved to Ellinor’s side, reassuring Marlinie that he was okay. “Don’t worry, it’s just a minor injury. I’m fine.”
Marlinie held her daughter’s hand with fearful relief. “Thank God you’re both okay!”
Once Bertha had calmed down, she took a deep breath and stepped forward. “Ellinor, Mr. Blanchet, I apologize for what my
stepdaughter has done to you. I’m truly sorry!”
With that, she gave a sincere bow to Ellinor and Theo.
Ellinor quickly rose and helped Bertha up. “Bertha, it’s not you who should be apologizing, but I hope you won’t blame us for
what comes next for Sophia,”

Bertha shook her head helplessly. “How could I blame you?! Sophia is beyond help. Facing legal justice might be the best for
her. Ellinor, could I ask you both to look after your mother while I go and talk to my husband? He’ll be a mess when he hears
about his precious daughter’s arrest. I don’t want him to do anything rash.”
Ellinor nodded. “I understand. Thank you for looking after my mom these past few days. We’ll stay here. You go ahead.”
Bertha wiped away her tears, let out a sigh, and left with Lea.
While watching Bertha’s retreating figure, Ellinor began to feel a surge of complex emotions.
Marlinie, lying on the hospital bed, shook her head and sighed. “Bertha has had a hard time over the years. She can’t control hér
stepdaughter, and her husband is a fool. She’s done her best.”
Ellinor turned to her mother. “Mom, don’t worry. We’ll only settle scores with Thaddeus and Sophia. We won’t involve Bertha or
her daughter.”
Marlinie nodded but still felt a little sad. Even if they didn’t involve Bertha, she knew that any harm to Thaddeus would hurt
Bertha too.
As a mother, she couldn’t ask her daughter to forgive those who had hurt them.
