The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning

Chapter 437
Madelyn was near Ventrocloud High. She had not been outside for days, so her mood brightened as she watched the bustling
street. Without a phone, she realized she had no one to worry about or to contact, making her world exceptionally quiet.
Unconsciously, Madelyn walked into a familiar alley, the same one Forrest had taken her for a meal before. She had no idea why
she had come here. As Madelyn was about to leave, a woman in her forties or fifties walked out carrying a basin with water.
Upon seeing Madelyn, she immediately recognized her, “You look somewhat familiar. You’re a friend of Forry, right?”
Madelyn nodded in response.
“Well, he gave me something last time and said it was for you. It’s been so many days, and I haven’t seen you come to pick it up.
Just wait here. I’ll get it for you.”
Madelyn had no idea what it was. During their last meal, she had only seen the owner, not his wife. So, she was puzzled by how
the owner’s wife recognized her.
After a short wait, the owner’s wife came with a black gift box tied with a pink ribbon. “This is something Forry left behind for you
before he left. I thought you weren’t coming to pick it up after all this time.”
Madelyn seized upon the main point of her words. “He left? Where did he go?”
The owner’s wife said, “He took his mother to Russia for medical treatment and mentioned that he might not return for a long
time. Didn’t you know?”
Indeed, Madelyn had no idea about it. “Thanks.”
“There’s no need to be so polite.”
One of the customers called out, “Madam, more pasta, please.”
“Coming right up.”
Madelyn had no idea what was inside the box. She went to a nearby park and sat on a wooden bench, placing the gift box on her
lap. Madelyn opened it and discovered a pair of pink plush gloves with no label, likely handmade. She thought of the woman,
who had a gentle and refined demeanor.

‘Aunt Sylvia probably made this.”
It was the most touching gift Madelyn had received in her two lifetimes. However, regret filled her heart as she had broken her
promise. She had not been able to successfully participate in the Math Olympiad, or secure a spot through recommendations, or
witness Forrest’s admission to Ventropolis University.
Her delicate and elegant jawline slightly tilted as she looked at the azure sky. At this moment, an airplane happened to fly
overhead, leaving a trail of white in the sky.
‘Goodbye, Forrest. Wishing you everlasting peace and happiness, and may all your wishes come true. Thank you for the gift. 1
love it. However, as a friend, Madelyn never had the opportunity to convey this to him. She hoped for a bright and prosperous.
future for both Forrest and his mother.
Madelyn was sensitive to cold and the weather grew colder, her hands and feet would begin to shiver, so the gloves were perfect
for her.
When Kevin found her, she was staring at the empty square with a surprise gift box on her lap. Her silhouette appeared lonely
and desolate, and her vibe was no longer that of an eighteen-year-old girl. She had indeed changed.
In truth, Madelyn had not changed. She had just gone through experiences most people never do and struggled to emerge from
them. At an age when she should have been carefree and vibrant, she now seemed like a soulless remnant.
For these past few days, Ethan had not looked for her. Madelyn knew that their relationship would come to this point. eventually,
so she returned to the Jent residence with Zach.
