The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning

The waiter served the final dish.
“Nothing here that suits your taste?” Zach took a sip of water and looked at her.
Madelyn’s bag was placed on the chair right beside her. She had the strong urge to just grab her bag and leave. However, she
could never do that with the bodyguard around her. Even if she did manage to escape, she would have no idea where to go.
“I don’t want to stay here. I have my own things to do.”
“What things? Tell me about them,” Zach asked.
Madelyn tightened her grip on her fork and knife. “I’m going to Dreamy Bay in North Sands next week. I have a lot of
preparations to make. If you keep me here, I won’t be able to get anything done.”
Zach listened to her quietly before muttering one word, “No.”
Madelyn could not figure out what right he had to interfere with her decision every time she wanted to do something. After all,
she was not a student anymore.
“This is my business, and you don’t have the right to stop me from doing anything, even with the relationship we have with each
other now. You...”
Zach cut her off before she could finish her sentence. He put down his fork and leaned back in his chair. “Tell me, what kind of
relationship do we have now?”
Zach looked at her with eyes that could seem to see through everything, including her. Madelyn could not figure out what he was
trying to say.
‘Does he want me to admit that we have an improper relationship with each other by asking that question?
‘And that I’m just a toy to him?‘ she wondered.
Madelyn lowered her gaze, and her hand tightly grasped her skirt under the table. She did not want to admit it as she said, “To
me... you’re just a brother that I have no blood relations with!”

Zach smiled wickedly. He wiped his mouth with a napkin before standing up. Then, he walked over to her, and Madelyn could
feel her body tensing up. Zach stood behind her, raised his hand, and snapped his fingers.
Soon, Kevin came over with a black velvet jewelry box. He opened it and there was a beautiful yet simple necklace inside.
Madelyn saw that silver crescent–shaped pendant and her whole body stiffened.
Zach leaned forward slightly, placed the necklace around Madelyn’s neck, and fastened it for her. Then, he whispered in her ear
with an alluring and deep voice, “We just met and there’s no need to rush. You’ll soon understand in the future... what our
relationship truly is.”
He rested his hands on her shoulder, and his gaze fell on her tightly clenched hands. He smiled faintly. “Madelyn... you can call
me brother just like old times.”
Zach’s gentle voice was like a sharp knife that could leave her wounded just by a few words.
He then stood upright. “I have a meeting to attend soon. Take a rest in the hotel and if you need anything, just tell the bodyguard
to do it for you. If you’re going somewhere, make sure to let me know... okay?” He playfully ran his fingers through her hair as he
spoke.
Madelyn kept quiet. Zach shot his bodyguard a cold glance before he left, and the bodyguard nodded as if he were saying. “I’ll
be sure to keep an eye on her.”
Madelyn could not calm her mind at all. She had no idea what she was thinking nor when Zach had left.
She had sat there for half an hour before the waiter came over to tell her that the dishes had gone stale.
Madelyn finally snapped out of her thoughts. She immediately stood up and looked for a place where she could breathe.
She could not just sit there and wait for something to happen, so she went back to the hotel room where the bodyguard stood

Madelyn tried to think of a solution Inside as she paced back and forth while staring at the closed room door. She went outside
and the bodyguards followed closely behind her.

After taking a few steps, she stopped, and asked, “Do you know if there are any shopping malls nearby?”
The two bodyguards exchanged glances and shook their heads. “Ms. Jent, we can ask the hotel staff if you want to go shopping.
They’ll arrange for a car to take us to the mall.”
“Is this your first time in France?” Madelyn asked.
“Yes, Ms. Jent.” The bodyguards answered truthfully.
