The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning

Chapter 939
Madelyn hung up the phone without answering. She sent another message: [Sorry, wrong number.]
Shortly after, Madelyn’s phone ran out of battery and shut down. When she tried to charge it, the charging port was broken; it did
not respond when connected to her phone.
Madelyn heard a vibration from the bedside table and was not sure what it was. She opened the drawer and found the pink
phone Zach had given her. She quickly turned it off, grabbed her old phone, and asked a servant to take it for repair.
At 6:00 p.m., Zach finished his last meeting of the day and stepped out of the meeting room. He hurriedly checked his phone.
Apart from some news notifications and a few insignificant calls, nothing else was
incoming.
“What has she been doing all day in the villa?” Zach murmured.
While following behind Zach, Kevin could tell from his displeased tone that something was amiss. Once inside the CEO’s office,
Zach threw the meeting documents onto his desk.
Kevin reported, “Ms. Jent had not left the villa. The custom phone you gave her is switched off. However, the servants reported
that she had taken her old phone to be repaired.”
Zach noticed that Madelyn did not wear the jewelry he had given her nor use the money he had given her. She still even wore
the clothes from five years ago. He was well aware that she wanted to sever any ties with him. At this point, he was curious to
see how long she could keep up with her stubbornness.
Madelyn received a call from the phone repair shop, stating that her model was outdated and the parts needed to repair her
phone were no longer available. Unfazed by the repairman’s news, Madelyn simply had the phone returned. She thought that
having a phone or not was not a big deal for her since she rarely
went out.
By 6:30 p.m., dinner was ready. Zach usually arrived on time at the Southern Haven Villas, but he had not
shown up yet.

Madelyn said, “Don’t wait for him. Let’s eat.”
Margaret asked, “Mr. Jardin always comes back on time. Did something happen at the company?”
Eating her dinner, Madelyn said, “He can handle his own issues. We don’t need to worry about him.”
After dinner, Madelyn spent some time with Dalton. At 9:30 p.m., she put Dalton to bed and went to her studio. The previous
painting commission she worked on had no issues. And now, she received a new painting commission. It was the latest Madelyn
had stayed up working.

Madelyn thought Zach would not be home tonight, so she decided not to wait any longer. Leaving the studio, Madelyn heard the
chaotic footsteps of a woman wearing high heels on the stairs around the corridor’s corner. As the two figures appeared,
Madelyn’s heart skipped a beat.
Cecilia was helping the drunken Zach. She smiled at Madelyn with painted lips and said, “Zach had too much to drink. I was
worried about him being unattended, so I brought him back. I hope you don’t mind,
Ms. Jent.”
