She confirmed the appointment with the hospital in a few short words and hung
up. Melanie looked up at Xander very calmly. “I need to take a day off tomorrow
to visit the hospital.” Xander paused, and the pen in his hand stopped scribbling.
He replied in a low voice, “Alright.”

Everyone knew why Melanie was going to the hospital. The entire living room
turned silent, and no one said a word.

Melanie was the first to break the silence. She looked down. Even though she

of her. He asked in a low voice, “Would you like to learn how to make lemon
drops?”

Before Melanie could answer, the door suddenly opened, and a cheerful laugh
was heard. “It's only been a few months since you learned how to make lemon
drops and you already think you're good enough to teach?”
