Chapter 246
Isaac answered, "Nikola will kill me if I hired you as my secretary."
Rose stuck her tongue out. "He doesn't care about me, so he won't kill you." She held his sleeve and swayed it. "Aw, let me be
your secretary. I'll do anything."
Isaac looked at her hand and pulled back, and then he went back to work. "No. I can't hire an Ortega. You can work at your
family's company or Nikola's hospital if you want."
The Ortega Family was a family of doctors. Nikola's brother had taken over the Ortega's medical company, whereas Nikola, who
majored in medicine, had opened up a few hospitals, making them a part of the family business. Rose has also majored in a field
related to medicine. And now that she's graduated, it goes without saying that she should stick to medicine-related jobs as well,
Isaac thought.
Patricia watched them chat. They look so close. It's just like the servants said; no matter how many girlfriends he has, Rose is
the only one who will marry him. I guess that's true.
The current Isaac was nothing like his usual self. He was usually stern and proud, but right now, the way he spoke and looked at
Rose was nothing short of gentle and warm. Patricia's lips curled down, and envy welled within her. She went to the pantry to
make two cups of coffee and set them down heavily before Isaac and Rose.
Rose felt the jealousy hanging in the air, and she smiled at Patricia sweetly. "Thank you, Patricia. You look lovely today."
Patricia, who was still green with envy just a moment ago, felt her mood turn slightly better after hearing the praise coming from
Rose with a smile. Figured it would be rude of her to continue her sulky attitude, she forced a smile. "You're welcome. This is my
job."
Though, she still threw a glare at Isaac indignantly. Isaac was the only one to whom she could vent, after all. Don't flirt in front of
me, will you? I'm still single, you know. He wasn't dating Rose yet, but the more Patricia looked at them, the more she thought
they were a good match for each other.
She then went back to her seat and tried to read a book to distract herself, but it failed. The sweet laughter that came from Rose
annoyed her greatly. Wonder if he thinks it's sweet.
She looked at Isaac and said, "Miss Lock said you have to finish signing those files before work is done for the day, Mr. Arnold."
I thought he was busy. He doesn't even have time to eat most of the time, but now he's chatting with Rose? That made her feel
agitated. She wanted to interrupt them and even stop them from seeing each other, if possible.
Isaac arched an eyebrow and glanced at Patricia nonchalantly. However, despite his neutral face, he was filled with glee inside.
He was smart enough to realize she was jealous. It was his first time seeing her behave that way, and that made him feel
exhilarated. "Play by yourself for a bit, Rose. I need to work. We can get lunch later."
Rose was delighted. "Of course, Isaac. You work, and I'll wait."
She didn't expect a warm welcome from Isaac. Maybe I got prettier over the last six months. Everyone said I got a lot hotter.
Well, that's how it is with girls. Everyone loves a pretty one, like me. She started taking selfies, and the more she took, the
prettier she thought she looked.
Patricia approached Isaac and whispered, "Mr. Arnold, I thought you were going to have lunch with a client." No, that wasn't in
his itinerary before—that's one I just scheduled for him just a moment ago.
