Although Bryson wasn't as capable or bright as his younger brother, he understood the situation after seeing how things had
unfolded. It wasn't an accident that he had lost biological daughter—it was a plan devised by Penny to replace their daughter
with her childhood sweetheart's child.
The reason Penny would voluntarily give her own daughter away and replace her was because she had been fooled by her
bodyguard, Walter Hudson. Walter had bribed Penny's doctor and gotten him to lie to her about her daughter being a jinx who
would bring misfortunes to the people around her. After hearing what the doctor said, Penny hired someone to take her own
daughter away. Subsequently, she brought Walter's daughter back to their house.
All these years, Penny wasn't close to her sons but was exceptionally fond of Ava. Bryson used to think that it was because
Penny was thankful toward Ava as her appearance had helped save his mother-in-law's life. Thus, she favored Ava a lot.
But now, he realized that he had gotten it all wrong. The reason Penny was so fond of Ava was because Penny and Walter were
lovers before she got married to him. Walter was the one who Penny truly loved; she saw his daughter as her own and loved
Walter's daughter more than she loved her own sons.
"What do you see me as? Huh?" He tightened his grip around her neck. His eyes were bloodshot, and his face was contorted
with anger. "You shouldn't have married me if you loved Walter that much. After marrying me, you would rather give our daughter
away and bring your lover's daughter back while letting me raise her as my own. How could there be such a vicious and wicked
woman?"
If such a scandal became known to the public, Bryson would be the biggest laughing stock of Dusktown. After his wife lost their
biological daughter, she brought her lover's daughter home as he foolishly raised the child as his own. On top of that, he had
given up on looking for his biological daughter because of Ava. His daughter was now somewhere outside, and he didn't know
whether she was dead or alive.
The thought of it made him feel so pathetic that he just wanted to strangle her to death. Noticing that something wasn't right, both
his sons and Brandon immediately stepped forward and dragged him away. Penny, who almost passed out from being strangled,
fell to the ground and coughed as she touched her neck. At one point, Penny felt that Bryson would actually strangle her to
death. Although he wasn't as capable as Brandon, he had a gentle temperament and was a nice guy. However, she now realized
that even someone as honest as Bryson would lose control and turn into a monster if someone crossed the line.
She slumped on the floor, feeling terrified. What should I do? How did it happen? Everything was done seamlessly back then, so
how has everything been dug up? Did Walter really fool me? she thought to herself. She couldn't believe that Walter, who loved
her so much and obeyed her every word, would lie to her.
If not for both his sons and younger brother, Bryson would have strangled her to death as he couldn't afford to embarrass
himself. There wouldn't have been someone as pathetic as him in Dusktown. If the matter was made known to the public, he
would be a laughing stock and a huge embarrassment.
He was so enraged that he tried to take deep breaths to calm himself down. After a while, he shut his eyes and kneeled before
Eddie. "Dad, I'm sorry for embarrassing the family!"
The whole Penham Family would be a laughing stock if this scandal was revealed to the public. Meanwhile, Eddie was so
exasperated that his face was as pale as a sheet, and his limbs were numb while he had a migraine.
When he was younger, he got hurt on the battlefield, which had affected his health during his old age. However, he was able to
live until today as he could afford the best healthcare. However, the doctor said that he should remain calm at all times and not
get too anxious. Otherwise, his illness would relapse with serious consequences.
Because of that, his temperament had become milder as he got older; Eddie was even able to calm himself down when he
encountered some issues so that he wouldn't get mad easily.
However, it was impossible to do so today after finding out that his eldest daughter-in-law, whom he had already looked down on,
switched his granddaughter at birth with her lover's daughter right in under his eyes without him realizing. All these years, he had
allowed Ava to cause trouble within the Penham Family.
If the incident got out, the Penham Family would be the talk of the town and would be laughed at. With that, he wouldn't be able
to uphold his integrity in his later years which would bring him embarrassment. The thought of it made his limbs tremble, and it
gave him a terrible migraine. Noticing that, Brandon immediately got someone to call Drew over.
Drew was a doctor who was knowledgeable in both Western and traditional medicine. He prescribed two Antihypertensive drugs
to Eddie and massaged his acupuncture points while advising him, "Mr. Penham, nothing is more important than your health.
Since you have been hurt before, you'll need to recuperate in order to live a long life. You shouldn't get yourself worked up as it is
harmful for your health!"
Upon hearing what Drew said, a thought suddenly flashed across Jennifer's mind.
She then looked at Sebastian and asked politely, "Sebastian, do you have a family doctor named Dr. Leigh Shefford?
"Yes," he answered with a smile.
"Frank mentioned that Dr. Shefford is a skillful doctor, and he holds her work in high regard. I was wondering if we could invite
her over to treat my father's illness?"
If she managed to get Dr. Shefford over to treat Eddie, she could try to persuade her to treat her daughter as she couldn't accept
the fact that Luna would only live until her thirties. She would even get on her knees and beg Leigh in order to get her to treat her
daughter's illness.
Brandon realized his wife's intention and chimed in, "Sebastian, Dr. Shefford is a very skilled doctor who helped to save my
daughter's life. We are all very thankful for her, and we would like to thank you for recognizing and recruiting such talent; it was
only through you that we were able to meet Dr. Shefford, who managed to save our daughter's life. If she could treat my father
and daughter, the Penham Family would be grateful toward you, and we will repay you generously for your kindness in future!"
"If Dr. Shefford is willing to treat my father and daughter, the Penham Family would be indebted to you, and we will definitely
repay you for your generosity in future!"
Since Brandon was an outstanding man within the Penham Family, Eddie's resources and connections were handled by him; he
would eventually succeed Eddie, which would give him a bright future. The Penham Family was also a big family with most of
them being leaders and scholars in their respective fields who held high statuses.
It was not a bad thing to be indebted by the Penham Family. On top of that, since both the Hart Family and Penham Family had
close ties, he wouldn't have rejected their request even if they didn't promise to give him anything in return. However...
Sebastian looked over at Madeline who was sitting next to him and said, "Although Dr. Shefford is our family doctor, she is
actually my wife's best friend who works at my wife's office. If both of you would like to get Dr. Shefford over to treat Eddie and
your daughter, I'll need to seek permission from my wife."
