Hopeless. That was the only thought in Isabella’s mind after meeting Corey. With his twisted nature, it seemed impossible to
correct him, even if his bones were broken again. She had been wary of him before, but after their encounter, anger filled her.
Coincidentally, Seth emerged from the main house, equally filled with anger, and their faces soured upon seeing each other.
Once they got into the car, Jordan noticed their expressions and sensed that something had gone wrong again.
“Let’s go!” Seth barked.
Jordan pursed his lips and quickly instructed the driver to start the car. When they arrived back at the mansion, Seth entered his
study with a gloomy expression, and
Isabella asked Jordan to take her home.
Then, Erin called. After inquiring about Seth’s injury, the conversation quickly shifted.
“Bella, Shaffer’s birthday is approaching. I need your help in making a cake for the cat.”
Confused, Isabella repeated in her mind, Shaffer? She glanced around, her initial thought being that her usual complaints about
Seth had been discovered.
Erin proceeded to explain the process, which revolved entirely around the cat, leaving
Isabella perplexed. After a while, she finally grasped the situation. “The cat’s name is
‘Shaffer’?”
Erin chuckled. “Yes.”
The corner of Isabella’s mouth twitched, and she finally realized that they were refe to different Shaffers. Most likely, Erin had
named the cat after Seth’s father.
“That’s my favorite cat, but I feel like I’m mistreating it by naming it Shaffer,” Erin stated matter-of-factly.
Isabella let out a dry laugh, acknowledging Erin’s audacity.
“Shaffer is quite picky, so remember to add animal-edible cream and make it visually appealing.” Erin reminded her.
Isabella was speechless; she couldn’t even cook, let alone bake a cake. After ending the call, her anxiety returned, although her
mood improved slightly. She had work matters to attend to at the company, so she went upstairs, organized her tasks remotely,
and then went to find the cat.
“Shaffer?”
The black cat strolled in from outside, and upon hearing Isabella’s call, it gave her a glance.
Shocked, Isabella thought, It’s really named Shaffer. She admired Erin for incorporating her dislike of someone into every aspect
of her life, even turning it into a source of amusement. While Seth was occupied in his study, she familiarized herself with the cat
and then consulted the chef on how to make the cake.
“We have plant-based cream at home. The cake base is made from ground cat food, and you just need to spread the cream on
top.”
It sounded simple enough, and Isabella breathed a sigh of relief, waiting for the chef to bake the cake while she took the cat
upstairs. The cat was completely black, and although it had a somewhat rough appearance, its snobbish character was quite
intriguing.
Isabella played with it for a while, and when the cake base was ready, she spread a of pet-friendly cream, resulting in a decent-
looking final product.
Shaffer, the cat, had just finished eating a can of food and probably wasn’t very hungry, so it sniffed the cake a couple of times
and then walked away. Isabella had no choice but to leave the cake aside for the cat to eat later.
Meanwhile, she went upstairs to review some documents, not paying much attention to the cake. Around five o’clock, Seth
emerged from his study with a gloomy expression. As soon as he descended the stairs, he noticed the unappealing cake on the
table.
“I think Miss Symons made it,” said a maid who was unaware of the situation.
Seth was taken aback. “Did she?”
“Yes.”
He approached the table and examined the cake. The words on top were crooked a distorted, but he could still make out the
word ‘Shaffer’
Is this for me? He chuckled, a smirk playing on his lips as he reached for the knife and fork within his reach. The cake had a
perfect balance of flavors, not overly sweet.
Normally, he would abstain from indulging in desserts, but his current state of contentment allowed him to devour half of the cake
within minutes.
