Third Person POV
It was the young couples wedding day today. The past month had been hectic, running around to prepare the most extravagant wedding possible.
Carina had insisted on her dress being red, to the annoyance of Ryan and her mother. But everything had been arranged just as she wanted.
Ryan and Carina were getting ready now, Ryan pacing nervously around the room, reciting his vows and Carina half asleep while the makeup artist painted her face.
Distinguished guests of Italy as well as the USA had been invited to their wedding, after all it was the bringing together of two very powerful families.
Everyone chattered, excitement written all across their faces. The Americans sat prim and proper, while the Italians laughed and drank merrily.
They were all seated in an outdoor pavilion facing the sea, the sun shining upon them, eagerly awaiting the perfect couple.
A hush fell across the crowd as Ryan briskly walked to the steps, passing Carina’s stepfather, giving him a small nod, then stood a few steps away from the priest.
A long pause later, Carina arrived, with two women beside her. Sara White, and one of her many cousins.
Ryan’s breath was taken away watching the woman gracefully walk to her father who whispered something to her.
The shouting and bustling of reporters could faintly be heard from outside the venue, slightly distracting Ryan.
Then both of their eyes were fixed on each other again, each step Carina took more decisive than the last. After what seemed like miles, she was handed over to Ryan, her gloved hand engulfed by his large one.
“You better take care of my daughter, Collins.” Carina’s father said, making Carina realise that she was getting married. Married to the love of her life.
The realization made her flush scarlet, her face hot. She peeked up at Ryan, who was already smiling down at her. It annoyed her how short she was compared to him, even in heels.
Both of them stared at each other, whispering the necessary parts after the priest.Ryan realized the priest was staring at him expectantly.
“Say your vows, idiot.” Carina scowled, earning his sheepish grin. The audience tittered at Ryan’s absent-mindedness.
“Carina Russo, I take you as my lawfully wedded wife. I take you with all your faults and all your strengths, as I offer myself to you with all my faults and all my strengths. Before these witnesses I pledge to share my life openly with you, to speak the truth to you in love.”
He took a deep breath, gazing at his beautiful bride.
“I promise to honor and care for you, to cherish and encourage your own fulfillment as an individual through all the changes of our lives. I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life. I love you. So much.”
Carina was stunned by the determination and love in his voice, and felt tears pooling in her eyes, and shakily repeated the vows.
Everyone held their breaths as the the couple slid rings on each other’s fingers.
“You may…”
Carina surged forward, her hand on Ryan’s tie, and kissed him before the priest completed his sentence.
“Kiss the bride?”
Ryan laughed, his lips pressed against Carina’s.
