Kristen thought of many things, but she had never expected that Marco would ridicule her so much to defend Brenda.
Kristen’s heart was numb from the pain, but she was still very uncomfortable. Kristen coughed and wiped her blood on her clothes. Fortunately, she was wearing a black coat today. Even if it was stained with blood, Marco would not be able to see it.
“That’s the price of the incompetence to control her mouth. I learned it from you, Marco. Don’t even mention two slaps. You slapped me even more than that. They are less than this slap from you!” Kristen leaned back against the edge of the bed and propped herself up bit by bit. Her figure was shaky but she did not fall again.
This time, Marco put more strength on his slap than ever before. Blood flew from Kristen’s mouth and nose, and she felt dizzy.
Marco ignored Kristen’s weak expression. He believed Kristen was pretending to play weak again. She was good at acting. Marco told himself that Kristen just did it to make him pity. Anyway, he had been deceived by Kristen once before.
This was how people were. Once they were deceived, they would believe the “liar” would be lying all the time, which would completely erase all their good impression of the “liar”.
Not only was Marco angry, he even felt that he was a joke.
Marco got even worse to Kristen. He wished he could turn into a sharp knife and stab her.
“How can you compare Brenda’s physical condition with yours?” Marco said in a mocking tone.
“Why not? Everyone has flesh and blood and will die from the pain. Is Brenda a fragile crystal doll, or can I be healthy no matter how wounded I’m? Do you think I won’t die from pain?” In the end, Kristen’s voice began to choke up. Her eyes were red and tears flowed down her face into her mouth. Kristen felt the salty tears in her mouth. For a moment, she couldn’t tell if the smell of blood or the taste of tears was heavier.
These salty tears and blood were mixed in Kristen’s mouth, becoming a bitterness that Kristen had never thought of. It was more bitter than any pills she had ever taken.
“Marco. What exactly do you think I am? A walking blood bank, or a tool for you to vent your lust? The one who really harmed Brenda is you, not me. If you had divorced me and married her, do you think I could have a chance of hurting her?” Kristen questioned, holding Marco’s clothes tightly.
Kristen’s words seemed to have pricked Marco’s sore spot. He narrowed his eyes, his gaze cold and hurtful.
“Kristen, don’t reverse right and wrong to avoid responsibility. You should pay the price for your behavior!” Marco had been convinced that Kristen was vicious, so whatever she said or did was wrong.
Marco believed that Kristen never reflected on her past mistakes and that it was the reason why Kristen would enrage him once and once again. Marco made up his mind to punish her today. If Kristen did not get a huge lesson, Marco would not stop bullying her.
Marco grabbed Kristen’s left hand and glanced at the pile of debris in the trash can.
He dragged Kristen to the balcony in one hand and carried the trash can in the other. He then dumped the glass shards on the floor.
“Get on your knees!” Marco ordered Kristen to kneel on the glass. In this case, he meant to punish Kristen, but Kristen didn’t know whether Marco did it because she had hit Brenda or she had smashed the wedding photo.
“I don’t kneel to beasts.”
Marco was enraged. The more he looked at Kristen, the more annoyed he became. He kicked Kristen hard in the knee.
Kristen did not expect Marco to be that ruthless. She only felt a pain in her knee. Following that force, Kristen subconsciously bent down and knelt on the glass shards.
It was warm today, and Kristen was wearing a dress that reached her knees. When she knelt, her knees were exposed, and the sharp glass shards pierced her skin.
