Chapter 1226
Leighton was different from everyone else in the room; he had never met Freesia, so he did not share a deep relationship with
her. That was why he had not paid much attention to this cousin, who seemed to appear out of nowhere.
However, he was quite pleased to have a new cousin in the family. It meant he now had someone to use as a shield if his father
ever complained about him again in the future. After all, this cousin did not grow up in his family, so he figured she could never
be more outstanding than him. In that way, he would no longer have to be the worstperforming member of the family and be
despised by his father.
Leighton pushed the door open after adjusting his clothes. Then, he saw his crush sitting in the middle of his family.
He was shocked.
Stella was stunned too. She paused and was unsure whether she should put the piece of prawn into her mouth or not. Keegan
had previously told her about the relationship between Leighton and Trevor, so she already knew that Leighton was her cousin a
few days ago.
She did not see him anywhere when she arrived and thought that he could not make it because he had something else to do.
She was not expecting to see him there.
She immediately put down her fork. To be honest, she still felt a little embarrassed. After all, they had acted as a couple before
and even almost kissed each other. Come to think of it; she was actually grateful for that troublemaker, Keegan's interference.
Otherwise, things would have been even more awkward.
Leighton’s eyes were filled with shock. Daryl frowned and said, "Why are you just standing there? Come inside. We've been
waiting for you."
Edith glared at him. "Can't you talk to the child in a better way?"
Daryl paused, coughed, and changed his tone. "Come on in. Are you expecting one of us to walk you over? Mr. Superstar? It
Leighton stiffened his face as he took off his mask and cap, walking rigidly toward Daryl. Then, he pulled out a chair and sat
down.
Wilfred got very excited. "Stella, this is your cousin, Leighton. Leighton Hall. Trevor told me you both worked in the same
production. So you know each other, right?"
Stella nodded. "Not only that I know him, but he has also helped me a lot."
Daryl was puzzled as he looked at his own son. "That's so kind of you. Why would you always talk back to me for everything I
said back home? Is our family environment so bad that you can't act decent?"
Leighton kept quiet. Stella did not know what to say either.
'I guess there's a reason why so many people exposed Leighton for having a bad temper. After all, the genes in this family are
very strong.' Stella thought to herself.
Then, she coughed and decided to speak up for Leighton," Uncle Daryl, I was very rebellious too when I was Leighton's age. I
argued with my family very often. However, Leighton is much more capable than I am. His acting skills are terrific, he has so
many fans, and he is very dedicated to his work too. Everyone likes him very much. He's also a brave person. When we first met,
I had gotten into a conflict with someone else, and that person splashed boiling water on me.
Leighton was the one who stepped in to save me.
Otherwise, there would've been a scar on my face."
Daryl was very surprised. "He got burned to protect you?"
Stella nodded.
Suddenly, the expression on Daryl's face became somewhat strange. He always thought that Leighton fought with someone
else, and he even scolded him over the phone. However, Leighton just hung up on him without explaining anything.
Then, he coughed and asked, "Why didn't you tell me about it?"
All Leighton could think about was that his crush had now become his cousin, and he was not in the mood to argue with his
father. "Did you ask?" he answered in a displeased tone.
Daryl was speechless.
'Stupid brat! What a temper you have there!'
However, Daryl, for once, refrained from scolding Leighton after realizing he had wrongly accused him. "Good job.
You've got to take good care of your cousin. Don't let anyone mistreat her."
Leighton ignored what Daryl said and looked at Trevor. Trevor was putting food onto Stella's plate while chatting happily with her.
It did not look like that was the first time them meeting each other at all.
His sluggish brain finally started functioning as he recalled all the things Trevor had done.
Then, everything began to make sense to him.
He finally figured out why Trevor would respond in that way when he asked him if he could pursue Stella.
'This cunning man already knew about Stella's identity and was just using me to fend Keegan off. I'm not surprised that a person
so protective of his sister would betray his cousin like that!'
Leighton was so mad that he laughed after connecting all the dots.
Trevor lifted his gaze and looked at him after hearing his laughter. He blinked his eyes and asked, "What's so funny?"
