Chapter 894
“I had no idea Liam sent you flowers. He didn’t run it by me,” Mason said, eyeing the bouquet. “Maybe it’s ‘cause we have similar
tastes. These flowers look like the ones I had someone send to you on your first day of filming.”
Celeste Campbell blinked, “You sent me flowers on that day?”
Mason nodded.
Celeste frowned, “Did you send them to the set?”
“No, I was worried you wouldn’t get them, so I had them delivered to your home. There was a card inside too,” Mason saw her
frown deepen and ventured, “Did you not get them?”
Celeste thought back to that day. She had just come back with Liam, who insisted on having tea. When she had gone to her
room to change, Liam had come in with a bouquet, saying it was specially ordered for her
She had praised Liam’s improved taste at the time, but he didn’t seem happy about it, rather he looked upset. He was usually the
type that would be on cloud nine when being complimented, so why wasn’t he happy? If the flowers weren’t actually from him, it
would make sense
Tossing the card from someone else’s bouquet and pretending it was from him was totally something he would pull off
“Celeste“”
When she didn’t respond, Mason called out her name.
Celeste snapped back to reality and saw the concern in Mason’s eyes. It was incredibly awkward. Even though it was something
Liam had done, she felt embarrassed
She cleared her throat and defended Liam, “I remember now. I think the security called me that day about a delivery. But I was
super busy those days and totally spaced.”
She apologized, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to overlook it.”
Mason watched as she apologized sincerely. His fingers tightened unconsciously before finally saying, “It’s okay. It’s just a
bouquet. There’s no need to apologize for not receiving it.”
Even though he said that, Celeste felt incredibly awkward knowing that Liam had almost been exposed for passing off someone
else’s gift as his
own
“I’ll check with security later,” Celeste muttered as she began trimming the flowers.
Mason didn’t continue the topic and instead picked up a few roses, asking. ‘Why the rose stems were cut diagonally?”
“I’m not exactly sure, I just noticed that other flower enthusiasts do it that way. Perhaps it increases the cut surface area for
better water absorption and longer freshness? Speaking of which, how’s your plant doing? Are there still black spots on the new
leaves?”
She turned her head and smiled at him, inadvertently revealing a glimpse of her skin through the neckline, where the distinct red
marks on her collarbone were clearly visible
Mason froze
In an instant, a flurry of images flashed in his mind – a messy apartment, endless arguments, culminating in a kiss, shattering
into countless pieces. The world was reduced to black, white, and red.
Seeing his silence, Celeste turned to him with a puzzled look. Mason’s lips were tightly shut, his face pale and his condition
seemed off.
Celeste paused, then asked, “Mason?”
