Celeste nodded, asking, “How much is this one?”
“$788, but we have a 5% discount for members.”
Celeste checked the tag. “Polyester fabric, doesn’t quite match up with the price.”
The female clerk nearby seemed to see an opportunity to mock Celeste, mocking, “If you think it’s too expensive just say so, if
you can’t afford it, why make excuses?”
Liam was about to say something when Celeste grabbed his wrist
With their years of tacit understanding, he instantly knew that Celeste didn’t want him to interfere.
Liam stared at the clerk, his face tense, his lips sealed, and said nothing.
The store manager scolded the clerk a little, and then turned to Celeste with a smile, “This is the price in all our stores. If it’s
beyond your budget, you can check out the discounted clothes by the entrance, they’re more affordable.”
The clerk was even more blunt, urging, “If you can’t afford it, change quickly, I have to attend to the next customer, can you not
waste time?”
Liam glared at her, “Who said we can’t afford it? Pack it all up for me.”
The manager was stunned, “You.. you mean pack it all up?”
Celeste said, “Yes, everything I just tried on, pack it all up.”
The clerk’s face was full of astonishment, and the manager urged, “What are you waiting for, go check out for this lady!”
The clerk hurried off to fetch the clothes.
Celeste stopped her, “Wait”
The manager reacted quickly, “Do you want me to get you another clerk?”

Celeste smiled, “No, she’s fine.”
She picked up a box of socks from the display next to her and asked, “How much are these?”
The clerk replied, “$9 for two pairs”
Celeste picked up two pairs of socks and followed her to the checkout.
As the clerk scanned the barcodes, Celeste leaned over to play with her phone.
Seven pieces of women’s clothing, totaling over six thousand dollars, the clerk finished checking, looked up and asked, “Cash,
credit card, or PayPal?”
Celeste looked up, “Do you think six thousand dollars is expensive?”
The clerk hesitated for a moment, then whispered, “Yes, expensive.”
“I think it’s expensive too, so let’s not.” Celeste handed her the two pairs of socks, “Just check these out for me.”
The clerk was taken aback, her face changed.
“Are you joking?”
Celeste smiled, “Your performance was really good, better than your manager’s, you just picked the wrong target. I can accept a
slightly higher price when I go shopping, but I don’t like to be trapped and treated like a fool. My partner doesn’t look like a fool,
does he? Why do you think his money is easy to fool?”
Both the clerk and the manager were stunned, this was not what they had expected
Celeste tapped on the counter, “Can I check out? If not, can you, the manager, help me with it?”
After paying the bill and leaving the store, Liam was still a little dazed.
Celeste picked up a pair of socks and examined them carefully, then complimented, “The quality of these socks is not bad.” She
took out a pair of men’s socks and handed them to Liam, “Here are the matching ones you wanted”
