Chapter 917
The head glanced at Celeste, who was playing with the kids, then said in a low voice, “Celeste isn’t Caitlyn’s biological daughter,
she’s not illegitimate.”
Liam was stunned, his expression turned serious, “How do you know?”
The head lowered his head, “I was with Caitlyn when she had the DNA test done. This is something I should take to my grave,
but now that Caitlyn’s gone, the only thing left for her to worry about is Celeste.
As her friend, I can’t help her in work or marriage. I know your family values lineage. I’m telling you this so that Celeste’s
‘illegitimate‘ status won’t become a hindrance between you two, even if you don’t end up together, I hope it won’t be for that
reason. She’s innocent in all of this.”
Liam was momentarily flustered
Birth certificates, everything was in order, how could Celeste not be Caitlyn’s biological daughter?
He asked in a low voice, “Who are her real parents?”
The head shook his head, “Don’t know, she was switched at the hospital. Caitlyn was too weak to have another child, so she
poured all her energy into raising Celeste. So, when she found out the truth, she didn’t want to give Celeste to her biological
parents.
On one hand, even though the blood relation is false, her feelings for Celeste are real. She couldn’t bear to part with the child
she raised with her own hands. On the other hand, there were no clues to her biological child. If she couldn’t find her biological
child and had to give up the child she raised, she couldn’t bear it, so she didn’t go looking. She did try to find her own biological
child, but to no avail
Η
Liam rubbed his temples, the alcohol was hitting him hard. He had many questions for the head, but his mind was spinning
The head added, “Don’t tell Celeste about this. If she knew but couldn’t find her real parents, it would only cause her more pain.”
Liam thought of Celeste’s distraught appearance at Caitlyn’s funeral, his heart ached. After a while, he managed a soft “Mm.”
After the Dean left, Celeste finally detached herself from the kids and sat down next to Liam “What were you and the dean
chatting about?”
Liam, elbows on the small table, palm against his forehead, opened his eyes to look at her when he heard her voice.
She had been having a blast with the kids, her cheeks rosy, her eyes sparkling.
Liam gently stroked her hair. “The Dean said you have a bit of a temper, asked me to cut you some slack”
Celeste’s expression faltered. “Are you sure he wasn’t talking about you?”
Liam flashed a grin, his chin resting on her shoulder. Then how about you put up with me a little?”
Celeste replied, “Haven’t I put up with enough? Who cleans up your mess every time you get drunk?”
Then she handed him a cup of water, “You know your limits when it comes to drinking, but the moment someone eggs you on,
you re all in. You’re good at spewing uncomfortable words, can’t you just say no for once?”
Liam took the cup of water, smiled softly and muttered, “You’re really something, sweetheart.”
Celeste glared at him, “Don’t push it.”
Liam appeared a bit worn out. He took a sip of water and continued to lean on her shoulder, listening to her. Suddenly, he said,
“The doc said that getting busy once or twice a week is normal. It’s been more than a week since our last time.”
Celeste:..
