The person Antonio was referring to was Brenda.
“Kristen is my wife. What right do you have to ask about me and her?”
“Wife?” Antonio felt like laughing when he heard this. If he was not in the hospital, he would have beaten this damn scum!
“Marco, ask yourself, did you treat Kristen as your wife? Where were you when she suffered from gastric bleeding? Where were you when she was admitted to the hospital alone and need to get her medicine?”
Antonio pointed at Marco’s chest and pointed out his crimes. “You are outside with your lover, drinking to your heart’s content. You plotted against the Lawrence family and send Kristen’s father to prison!”
After he finished speaking, Antonio’s eyes turned red. He hated Marco, but he also hated himself. If he cared more about Kristen, Kristen would not have got stomach cancer.
Antonio was trembling. He tried to restrain himself, but he still could not hold back his choking voice.
“I really regret not stopping Kristen from marrying you. If she hadn’t married you, her health wouldn’t have been like this.”
Antonio thought of Kristen, who was now in the intensive care unit, thought of her stomach that was full of cancer cells, thought of Kristen coming to him excitedly four years ago, telling him with a happy face that she was about to get married.
At that time, Kristen probably would never have thought that her marriage would end up like this.
Antonio shook his head. “Marco, you’re a bastard!”
Marco stood silently. He wanted to retort, but he did not know where to start. He felt someone punch hard in his heart. He did not come back to his senses for a long time.
He looked at Antonio, but in fact, he was looking at the operating room behind him. He wanted to go in to see Kristen.
He had never been so desperate. He wanted to see her.
“Marco, do you love Kristen?” Antonio asked.
Love? These four letters were heavy. If he loved Kristen, he should cherish her. Instead, he locked her in the bedroom for four days without providing her with food. She was isolated and helpless in front of the reporters. She knelt in the heavy rain for half an hour. But he did nothing. He just watched.
It was ridiculous to talk about love. He should not love Kristen. What kind of person was Kristen? He was only possessive of something that he got used to.
Antonio sneered, the corners of his eyes wet. He had promised Kristen to hide her illness, but there were some things that Marco should see with his own eyes.
“Come with me. I’ll take you to see something.” Antonio turned and entered the operating room.
Marco paused for a moment and followed. The nurse in the operating room was cleaning and disinfecting.
As soon as Marco entered, he smelled the disinfectant and blood.
For a moment, he did not know where to look, as if he had entered a space that did not belong to him. He was incompatible with the surrounding environment.
Marco had always been calm. Even if he could not resolve the emergency for the time being, he would not panic. But now he was fearful because of the unknown. This was the first time in the past 26 years.
Antonio looked around and finally found a plastic basin on a shelf that had not been cleaned yet. What was inside was the residue taken from Kristen’s stomach-the blood-red pulp of paper.
He placed it in front of Marco and forced him to look at it. “This is from Kristen’s stomach. It’s something she ate recently. Do you know what this is? Toilet paper! It’s all undigested toilet paper!”
