There was a sharp pain in her right hand. Kristen looked at her hand and saw that her blood had turned the entire infusion tube red.
On Kristen’s phone, trending topics kept popping up. At that moment, Kristen was like an old machine with slow reactions. She trembled and clicked into a topic about someone jumping off a building.
Then she saw a video streaming live. She heard an ear-piercing scream. The scene was in chaos, and there were incessant shouts and cries of women and children. In just a few seconds, Kristen had seen everything.
Kristen felt despair as if her heart was pierced by a blunt knife. She wanted to stop reading the news, but she couldn’t.
And then…
Kristen saw Darin, who was lying in the blood and beyond recognition.
Kristen choked and her thin shoulders trembled violently. Kristen did not know what had happened. It was like her soul had been separated from her body. Her soul floated in the air and looked at her body. Kristen was trembling with her phone in her hand… She was like a dead leaf as if she would be torn to pieces by a sharp wind in the next second.
“Kristen.”
Someone was calling out to Kristen. She looked up blankly. Kristen’s empty eyes were filled with fear and despair, dark and scary.
When Kristen saw Marco walking towards her, she was shocked. Kristen stood up from her wheelchair and wanted to rush over.
But Kristen wasn’t well. She couldn’t stand up straight and directly fell on her knees. Even Kristen’s wheelchair flipped over and fell onto the ground. So did the infusion bottle hanging on the rod. It hit the tiles hard and pulled the needle, which was attached to her hand. As a result, her hand was terribly hurt.
Kristen’s blood dripped onto the white tiles and soon was dried, looking particularly striking.
Such a loud noise instantly attracted the attention of everyone in the hall. They all looked over and saw a woman lying on the ground and lowering her head. They could not see Kristen’s face, but her thin and weak body. Infusion and blood had spread all over the white tiles.
Someone wanted to go over and help, but Marco had already run to Kristen.
“Why are you so stupid?” Marco said in disdain, but he still reached out to pick her up.
Kristen used all her strength to break free from Marco, slapped him, and roared, “Marco, my dad committed suicide by jumping off a building!”
Really? Did a good-for-nothing man like Darin dare to jump off a building?
Marco couldn’t believe it at first. But when he saw Kristen cry in despair, he knew it was true.
Macro suddenly was overwhelmed by a sense of panic.
If Darin was dead, then Marco and Kristen… He did not dare to think further.
Kristen’s tears kept falling as she felt as painful as if her heart had been pierced by ten thousand arrows. Her father’s bloody face kept haunting her.
“Marco, I hate you! You killed my father!” She roared while choking.
Marco felt suffocated. This was the first time he had heard Kristen say that.
Marco suppressed his emotions and crouched down, holding Kristen’s trembling body. “Kristen, I will take you to see your father. He will be fine. Believe me.”
“Marco, how can I believe you? You have reminded me that you’re a liar. How can I trust you now?”
Kristen thought she could save her father by abandoning her pride and kneeling down to people. But now her father had killed himself.
No matter how cruel Darin was, he was still Kristen’s father. But now… Nothing was left.
Kristen now looked completely pale and her body kept trembling. Even if Marco hugged her tightly, he couldn’t keep her steady.
Kristen leaned on his shoulder and bit Marco hard. However, it couldn’t hurt him.
Kristen was weak. In just a moment, she lost all her strength. Kristen rested her jaw on Marco’s shoulder and her tears wet Marco’s suit.
Kristen sobbed and said in a trembling voice, “Marco, why are you so cruel?”
