“Are you going to sleep now?” she blurted. Her unanticipated question made him stop in his tracks. Amelia’s breathe hitched when he turned to face her. She bit her lips cursing herself for such lame question. What would he think about her now.
“No. I will be going through few files,” he replied. “Did you need anything?” he asked her in obliviousness. Did she need anything from him? No, there was no need for her to call him but why did she even have a sudden urge to ask him?
“No…Mr. Schneider.” she shook her head. Adrian looked at her for a few seconds before climbing the stairs.
Amelia had a sigh of relief when he left, she took enough breathe to clam down. She didn’t know why she wanted to ask him but now when she gave a thought, she found an answer. She wanted to spend more time in his company. A smile formed over her lips when her thoughts drew back to the night at his mansion. He was there for her and treated her wound even after she rejected his kindness. He didn’t leave her at the construction site and made sure he would drop her at her place. Her smile grew wider when she recollected the time she met him in London. She felt butterflies in her stomach. Like a teenager, she strode towards her room with a smile. Her eyes turned to see the door that connected their rooms. Her heart pounded faster and faster for every ticking second that passed like an eternity. She inhaled deeply before her feet touched the cold floor, she padded with her feet towards the door slowly. Even though it was a wooden door, it was a barrier in her eyes. A barrier that kept them apart. She had no clue what was happening to her at this moment. All she wanted was his company. She wanted to talk to him, anything, everything. She lifted her hand to knock. She will be confident, she thought.
Before she could knock on his door, she heard a knock from another side like a warning siren. She exhaled heavily resting her forhead to the wooden door where she was standing. Realisation hit her hard. What was she even trying to do. Her heart didn’t stop to palpitate. She turned her feet in a different direction. As soon as she opened her room’s door, she saw him stand in front of her room as if he was a remedy for her heart’s palpitation.
